The Challenge

Promote five managed office and coworking spaces across a city centre and implement a unified booking system for meeting rooms and other resources.

The Result

The new website has attracted over 150 enquiries for office and coworking space and allowed almost 200 tenants and their staff to make over 600 meeting room bookings.

Connect Derby brings together Derby City Council’s managed office and coworking spaces: Friar Gate Studios, Sadler Bridge Studios, Kings Chambers, Riverside Chambers and Shot Tower, in order to connect people, expertise, knowledge and boost economic growth. Codemakers won a tender process to deliver a bespoke website to promote Connect Derby and its managed workspaces, together with an enquiry handling system and booking management system for tenants to make their own meeting room bookings.

We delivered a responsive, mobile-friendly website based on the Concrete5 Content Management System, allowing Connect Derby staff to maintain the website’s content easily. We extended Concrete5 with a bespoke management system backed by a RESTful API, allowing multiple services to link into the system thereby future-proofing the solution. The enquiry handling system allows multiple Connect Derby staff to handle enquiries, with the ability to view the state of each enquiry and send formatted responses by e-mail.

For existing tenants, a unified self-service booking system links the buildings together and allows tenants to check availability and book meeting rooms across the Connect Derby portfolio without having to call reception. This has helped Connect Derby tenants improve their customer service, simplifying arranging meetings with their clients by checking availability and booking online. The system was implemented with minimal disruption, freeing reception staff to carry out other duties.
