Codemakers is a digital consultancy providing bespoke web and mobile apps for business-to-business (B2B) clients across multiple industries. With household name brands among its clients, Codemakers offers a wide range of services including the ongoing development and maintenance of mid-scale eCommerce applications, mobile apps and APIs. The company has recently begun a transition towards providing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products, notably Shipmate – a delivery management platform for mid-size online merchants and local delivery companies.

We are looking for a UX and Interaction Design Specialist to work alongside our Creative Director in overseeing the Analysis and Design of our projects, in addition to maintaining our quality standards. The role would suit a competent Designer or Business Analyst with front-end development experience wishing to take the next step in their career and become an influential member of a talented, ambitious team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting our Creative Director in overseeing the Analysis and Design aspects of our projects
  • Working with our clients and stakeholders to translate business requirements into carefully considered user interactions
  • Defining user journeys, wireframes and other user interactions
  • Producing navigable prototypes using InVision or similar software
  • Working closely alongside our developers in supplying assets for production of web and mobile apps
  • Carrying out testing and Quality Assurance of our projects
  • Managing your project contributions using team development tools and source code repositories
  • Influencing the continual improvement of working practices and application of technologies through maintaining track of industry developments

The role includes a wide range of opportunities to continue to refine your skills and specialise in the fields that suit you best. Career growth opportunities include the role evolving to Project Manager, Lead Designer or Consultant over time.

We are specifically looking for someone who has experience in the field of front-end web and mobile app development, influencing design decisions and having a track record of taking real-world problems and translating them into concepts for production into sound technical solutions.

Am I suitable for the role?

We are seeking a competent, experienced user interaction designer wishing to become a UX Consultant who has excellent design and communication skills. Prior commercial experience with evidence of influencing project outcomes or project leadership experience is essential. Experience in wireframing and prototyping tools such as Balsamiq, InVision or Adobe XD, together with graphics packages such as Sketch or Photoshop is essential. 

Experience in Front-End Development is not essential but considered favourable.

The Codemakers office is based at Friar Gate Studios, opposite ‘The Copper Building’ on the outskirts of the Cathedral Quarter.
